I’m all about chasing financial freedom, not money.
Okay, but what’s the difference?
Financial freedom is about being stable and comfortable to do what YOU want. Whether that is leaving a toxic job, retiring early or wanting to start a business – financial freedom allows you to live life on your terms.
It is about making smart income and investment decisions which will give YOU freedom and options. It focuses on prioritising your happiness and placing importance on what YOU want to achieve from life.
Chasing money is about making choices that will give you the highest income and net worth. This could involve choosing a highly-paid career, prioritising saving and investments above everything and perhaps a plan to work indefinitely. That being said, there is nothing wrong with pursuing this either, it is all about finding out what is right for you! Many people are truly entrepreneurial at heart who enjoy making as much money as possible. All power to them, it’s just not for me.
Why did I decide to chase financial freedom?
I love my work and my industry.
That being said, starting full-time work at 19, I quickly realised that this is not how I want to spend the next 40 – 50 years of my life. Working full-time is not natural for me and never will be. It’s exhausting, stressful and makes me neglect basic things like sleep and health.
I chase financial freedom so I can have options in the future – if that is working part-time or retiring early, I want to give myself that chance to choose how I want to live my life.
